Helen Constance Keller, 73, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Keller retired in 1994 as finance manager of Downtown Hardware, where she had worked for 30 years.

She was born in Proctor, N.C., on June 6, 1926, the daughter of Albert and Winnie Vance Rickman.

She was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church and throughout the years had served the church in many capacities, most recently as church trustee, as church treasurer and as a member of the Church Personnel Committee. She was also involved with the Women's Missionary Union at the church.

Mrs. Keller was a member of the Oak Ridge Area Christian Women's Club and the regional chapter of Emmaus.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer L. Keller; her son, Jerry Constance and his wife, Lisa, of Oak Ridge; her daughter, Kay Bailey and her husband, Jim, of Oak Ridge; three stepdaughters, Janet Jordan and her husband, Joel, of Brentwood, Karen Bush and her husband, Phil, of Antioch and Nancy Feist and her husband, Richard, of Oak Ridge; and by her brother, Bruce Rickman and his wife, Jessie, of Gaston, S.C.

Mrs. Keller is also survived by five grandchildren, Kim Fortner, a student at Emory University School of Medicine, and her husband, Jonathan, of Atlanta, Ga., Tim Constance, a student at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and Scotty Bailey, Angela Constance and Noah Constance, all of Oak Ridge; seven step-grandchildren, Janelle Adams and her husband, Todd, of Mesa, Ariz., Anthony Brown, a student at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, John Chaney, a student at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Karli Bush of Antioch, and Sarah Feist, Rachel Feist and Beth Feist, all of Oak Ridge; and two step-great-grandchildren, Jordan Adams and Andrew Adams, both of Mesa.

Mrs. Keller's first husband, William P. "Dub" Constance, died Jan. 4, 1978.

The funeral was held Sunday, Oct. 10, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Michael Prince officiating.

A graveside service was to be held at 10 this morning, Oct. 11, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the General Fund at Robertsville Baptist Church, 251 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
