My great grand-father Hermann Oberg was reportedly a ship's captain, who jumped ship in Brisbane in order to marry my great grand-mother.

He married Emma Cripps (b. 1853 in England - d. 26 June 1903 in Brisbane) on 2 November 1875 i

Together they had 11 children: William (1875-1876); Joseph (1877-1960); Louisa (1879-1916); Lydia (my grand-mother)(1881-1927); Alice (1883-1924); Alfred (1885-1912); Edward (1887-1892) Mabel (1890-1890); Orelia (1891-); Herman (also known as Harry)(1894-1986); Gladys (1897-1933).

Hermann died in Brisbane Hospital in his 73 year from Chronic endocarditis and Ventricular fibrillation.

OBERG - The Friends of Mr. HARRY OBERG (deceased) are respectably invited to attend his Funeral, to move from the residence of his Son, Mr. Joseph Oberg, Paradise Avenue, Toowong, THIS (Monday) AFTERNOON, at 2 o'clock, to the Toowong Cemetery.
