Sarah Ann Barnhart was born 2-9-1852 In Indianola, Iowa. She died 11-22-1904 and buried in Pawhuska Cemetery. She moved to Dexter Kansas in 1875 and came to Oklahoma in 1884. She married Lewis Cass Pattison Jan 30, 1872. Her father, William Barnhart was born in Pennsylvania and her mother was born in Ohio. Her mother's maiden name was Abigail Sams and might have been know as Little Grandma. Sarah was called Big Grandma because she was said to be a large woman, possibly Dutch with red hair. Sarah's grave is actually under the road in front of her stone at Pawhuska.

The community was saddened to learn Tuesday of the death of Mrs. Saran Ann Pattison, wife of L.C. Pattison, at their home a few miles from town. The funeral services were held on Wednesday at 1 o'clock in the M.E. church, the pastor, Rev. E.F. Hill officiating. Mrs. Pattison was born in Indianola, Iowa, Feb 9, 1852. At the age of fifteen she united with the Christian church. She was a loving wife and mother and a good neighbor. To the bereaved husband and eight children is extended the sincere sympathy of the entire community in this their hour of sorrow.
