He played at the offensive guard and defensive tackle positions for fourteen seasons (1945 to 1958) in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts and Edmonton Eskimos. He was a member of six Grey Cup championship teams (1945 to 1947 Argonauts, 1954 to 1956 Eskimos) and was selected to Toronto Argonauts' All-Time Modern Era All-Star Team. After retiring as a player, Morris served as Director of Player Development with the Edmonton Eskimos from 1973 to 1988, and was instrumental in assembling their dynasty teams that would win seven Grey Cup titles (1975, 1978 to 1982, 1987). He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1983 and the Eskimo Wall of Honour in 1984.
