Oron W. Land, 91, of Waco, passed away Friday, April 10, at Providence hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Greg Way officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 13, at Wilkirson Hatch-Bailey Garden Room.
Oron was born in Lohn, Texas, to the late Willie and Oma Carroll Land. He worked as a Trooper for the Texas Department of Public Safety for 37 years. He was a member of the Leroy Church, was very active in the Karem Shrine Temple and a member of the Director's Staff and a member of Scottish Rite and Blue Lodge of Lohn, Texas. He was a passionate dove hunter and loved woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel; brothers, Henry, Earnest, Orville, Carroll and Jack Land; and sisters, Mae Bissett and Cleo Jackson.
He is survived by wife, Elizabeth, of Waco; sons, Larry Land and wife, Sue, of Grand Prairie, and John Land, of Arlington; daughter, Denise Clifton and husband, Larry, of Leroy; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
