Banister of this place, while the art medal was captured by Miss Robbie Farnsworth, a sister of Mrs. C.C. Davidson also of this city. These young ladies are attending the Christian college at Columbia, and their many friends will be glad to learn the above mentioned indications of their success in the work of acquiring an education.

The program at the Cosmos Club Monday consisted of two papers on South American subjects. The country of Ecuador was discussed by Mrs. Richard Taaffe. Mrs. D.B. Butchers read a paper on the "Pan-American Congress of Women," which was held a few months ago in Baltimore and included women from both North and South America. A note of condolence was sent to Mrs. George A. Still of Kirksville, a former president of the Missouri Federation of clubs, relative to the death of her husband, which occurred last week. Mrs. D.B. Butchers gave a talk on the sale of Christmas seals, under auspices of the Jasper County Anti-Tuberculosis Society. Mrs. Butchers explained the uses to which the money from these sales would be put.

Mrs. D.B. Butchers was elected secretary of the Cosmos club at a meeting Monday afternoon at the library, to fill the unexpired term of the present secretary, Mrs. F.M. Geeslin, who is leaving soon to join her husband in Florida. A program committee was also appointed with Mrs. H.A. Wolcott, as chairman, Mrs. Harry Fulford, Mrs. K.A. Speece and Miss Myrtle Thomas, as assistants. "England and Her Possessions" and "Modern Drama," were selected as topics for the next two years' study. The afternoon program consisted of a paper on "Ancient Mexico," prepared and read by Mrs. J.W. McGregor.
