Billy was a loving husband and father and was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Roberts; daughter, Billie Sue Roberts; sister, Pauline Williams; and parents, Ray and Jettie Roberts.
Billy joined the CCC when he was 14 years old and helped build trails in Greenbrier and Cades Cove. He remained in the CCC until he was 17 and then joined the U.S. Navy. He fought in the Pacific Theater and served in Korean War. He retired in 1967 and worked in Civil Service as an administrator to train helicopter pilots. His last job was for a company formerly owned by Exxon repairing robotic arms that made PC boards for automobiles. Mr. Roberts spent his latter years caring for his wife and after her death moved back to his mountain home.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and John Jenkins, Cosby, TN, Carolyn and Patrick Guice of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren, Adam Guice of Hilliard, FL and Matthew Guice of Boca Raton, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Claudine Roberts of Cosby; Lynn and Julia Roberts of Cleveland, Ohio; sister, Cora Faye Sauceman of Cosby; special niece, Angie Mathis of Cosby; and special friend, Ricky Ford of Kodak.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday with memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. at Laurel Springs Christian Church. Pastor Ken Arnold officiating.
