Birth: Mar. 2, 1852, Germany
Death: Jan. 6, 1911

William F. McKale.
Died, Friday, Jan. 6th, 1911, William F. McKale, aged 58 years, 10 months and 4 days.
Wm McKale was one of our most widely known German-American citizens. He was a son of the late Ernest McKale and was born in Germany, March 2d, 1852. He came to America with his parents in 1869 and has since resided continously in Sherman and Nottawa townships in this immediate vicinity. He was married to Miss Minnie Hagen, Sept. 16, 1876. Eleven children were born to them seven sons and four daughters, all of whom are living and were present at the funeral. There are also twelve grandchildren, two brothers, four sisters, wife and dear old mother.
By industry, economy and thriftiness Mr. McKale had acquired one of the best farms in this township and gained the respect and admiration of all. He was confirmed in the Lutheran church when a youth and has always regarded his membership one of the most sacred things in his life. He was a favorite everywhere. For several years he has been suffering from muscular rheumatism and has tried every thing that science or skill could suggest but without benefit. His sufferings have been excruciating and almost continuous. His body has been racked and tortured and distorted, but his mind has been clear and he has borne his tortures with marvelous fortitude and approached death unflinching and with clear mind. He directed his loved ones what course to pursue and went over the border line triumphant.
Friends and neighbors have been unceasng in their attentions and helpfulness and the family most gratefully acknowledge every kindness. The funeal occurred at the German Lutheran church in Centerville on Monday and was conducted by his beloved pastor, Rev. C. S. Schoenow. The church was crowded to the doors. Six of his sons acted as pall bearers and tenderly bore the beloved form to its last resting place in Prairie River cemetery.
