STREATOR — Dorothy J. Griswold, 80, of rural Streator, died Wednesday morning, April 8, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Erven Avenue Baptist Church in Streator with the Rev. Curtis Starner officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Rantoul. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagi Funeral Home in Streator.

Mrs. Griswold was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Tomlinson, Ill., to Louis and Opal (Meece) Thomas. She married Robert D. Griswold April 4, 1948, at First Baptist Church in Rantoul. He survives.

Dorothy was a caseworker for the Department of Children and Family Services in La Salle County and worked at the Pines Dress Shop in Bloomington. She was a member of Erven Avenue Baptist Church. She was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, active in church missions, Relay for Life and Bible study ministry at Dwight Correctional Facility. She attended Griswold Grade School near Ludlow and was a graduate of Rantoul High School.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Griswold of rural Streator; one daughter, Sally (Bill) Sprague of Lawton, Okla.; three sons, Gary (Sharron) Griswold of New Athens, William (Pamela) Griswold of Simpsonville, S.C., and Tom (Mary) Griswold of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Niccum of Paxton, Wylodene Sample and Marlene Albers, both of Rantoul, and LeLa (Ken) Vandermolen of Fond du Lac, Wis.; and two brothers, Earl and Allen (Janet) Thomas, both of Ludlow.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister in infancy.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason, Troy, Jeff, Mike and Cole Griswold and Joel Sprague. Grandsons-in-law will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Erven Avenue Baptist Church in Streator.
