A.A. was the son of Ambler and Nancy Catherine (Smith) Casey.
Following the loss of her husband, Nancy (Smith) Casey lived with A.A. and his family for a while in Arkansas, as supported by census records. She may have eventually remarried, however, there is no known documentation to support this, and she earned her husband's military pension for the remainder of her life. Nancy may have ended up in or around Spiro, Le Flore County, Oklahoma.
A.A. was a Deputy US Marshall for the Western District of Arkansas, and rode for Judge Isaac Parker out of Fort Smith.
A.A. was married twice and had a total of 14 children that we have names for. According to one family source, his first wife, "Ellie" (Ellender Frances Ham) Casey left him and their three children for another man, and probably ended up in Texas. Ellie was a niece to the outlaw, Wild Bill Doolin.
Casey's second and lasting marriage was to Eliza (Hensen/Henson), whom he married in 1901, and together the raised eleven children.
