He helped his father in the warehouse and was the overseer of the road from the warehouse to the point of crossing Lewis' Old Road.
He was in Hancock County, Kentucky for the 1840 Federal Census. On 12 August 1850, for the census, he was in Hancock County, Kentucky with his wife Elizabeth and children Elizabeth, Thomas, William, Nicy Ann, America, Harriet, Malvina, Margaret and Felix. He was two houses from the family of David W. Meadows.
