Robert Walden, a life-long resident of this community, died at his home seven miles west of town on July ___, 1933. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church with burial made in Maple Grove Cemetery. The casket was born by relatives: Ralph, John, Harry, Atlee, Carter and Lyle Walden. Flower girls were Marianna Severson, Dorothy Helmick, Virginia Petree and Margaret Mawhiney.
Robert Taylor Walden was born February 19, 1867 the s/o James and Sarah Walden. He was the eighth of fourteen children, only two of whom survive. On December 25, 1892 he was married to Laura Belle Helmick. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Ada Carter of Pontiac; Mrs. Florence Jones, Ethel and Vernelle, all of Farmer City, who with the widow survive.
Mr. Walden was united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Rucker Chapel at the age of sixteen. In the fall of 1885 he entered the Wesleyan University at Bloomington. From then on he was a teacher and a farmer. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Order and belonged to the Masons and was a very active church and lodge worker.
