Esther was the third child to Enoch Walker and his 2nd wife, Jane (nee Greenhalge). She is buried with her father & a brother

Esther was born not long after their arrival in Wellington and as they did not move to Woodville until about 1880 it is assumed she was born in the Wellington district

Evening Post, 4 January 1929
Masterton, This Day . A fatal motor-car accident occurred on the Rimutaka Hill late yesterday afternoon,a single woman named Esther Mary Walker, aged 60 (sic 59), a dressmaker of Woodville, being killed. The accident occurred about two miles from the summit of the hill, on the Wairarapa side. The car in which Miss Walker was travelling went over the side of tho road and fell about 200 feet. Tho driver of tho car, Mr Thomas Henry Walker, of Hawera, a bacon factory proprietor, brother of deceased, escaped practically unhurt, but two other ladies who were in the car, Mr Walker s daughter-in-law and wife, are suffering from shock, and are at present in a private hospital at Featherston.
