Born Sept. 7, 1918, in Malden, son of the late Hubert and Maggie Price Cooper, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII and was retired from General Motors. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Malden and served on the Malden Community Center Board.
On June 22, 1941, in Piggott, Ark., he married Madeline Heady, who preceded him in death on March 19, 2002.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Floyd, Lois, Clois, George and John Cooper and five sisters, Nola Legan, Irene Wiley, Essie Harrison, Rema Polen and Opal King.
Survivors include one brother, E.A. "Lefty" Cooper, of Malden; one sister, Laviece Koengeter, of Malden and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 8, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Jackson officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
