Son of David and Rebecca Robertson White; husband of Nancy Agnes Everett. The farm upon which he grew up was next to that of the family of the boy, Sam Houston in Blount County. Isaac White was a close friend of Sam's older brothers. During Sam's teenage years he left his family and went to live with the Cherokee. Eventually they learned that Sam had crossed the Tennessee River and was living with the Indians. Elizabeth Houston sent her older boys to bring him back. Isaac was one of the three who accompanied two of Sam Houston's brothers into the Cherokee Nation to search for the young Sam, who had run away and joined the Indians. It is certain that Isaac White knew the young Sam Houston personally.

When he grew up Isaac served in Captain Hickey's Company of the 1st Tennessee Infantry. He and Nancy became the parents of nine children. After David's death, Isaac and his siblings sold a piece of land on Crooked Creek to George Snider. In 1834 he was operating two stills on Crooked Creek. He continued to do operate the stills until about 1842 when Isaac White bought the land back from George Snider. He then built a grist mill there. The White's lived east of Maryville on what has since been named White's Mill Road. It was also here that Isaac Anderson) learned the trade that he was to take with him to Texas.
