Mrs. Eunice Simmons Nicholson of 506 South Main St.. Newton, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning. May 4, 1974. at the Queen City Nursing Home in Meridian. She had been a resident there several months.
Born Sept. 8, 1883, in Newton County, Mrs. Nicholson was the daughter of the late Sally Skinner and Lewis Franklin Simmons. She was the widow of Horace Malone Nicholson, and the family formerly resided in the Liberty Community. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.
Mrs. Nicholson leaves one daughter, Mrs. J. E. Nichols (Frances) of Newton; three sons, Lewis F. Nicholson of Port Arthur, Tex., James A. Nicholson of Newton and Harry V. Nicholson of Florence: six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Sunday, May 5, at 3 p.m. in Webb Funeral Home chapel. The Revs. J. B. Costilow and T. L. Everett were officiants. Burial was in the family plot of the Liberty Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Herman Shelby, L. E. Dearing, Blucher Simmons, O. C. Garvin, Hurley Gaines and Melvin Chapman.
