FUNERAL RITES HELD AT LIBERTY CHURCH FOR H. NICHOLSON

Funeral services for Horace Malone Nicholson, 77, of Route 2, Newton, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Liberty Baptist Church, where he held membership. The Rev. T. L. Everett, pastor, and the Rev. J. N. Triplett of Newton officiated. The church was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends and the body was laid to rest underneath a blanket of choice seasonal flowers in the Liberty Cemetery.

Death came to Mr. Nicholson Friday morning, May 4, 1962, at the Newton Hospital, where he had been a patient since suffering a stroke a week beforehand. He was born Nov. 2, 1884, at Hero in Jasper County, his parents being S. A. and Cora Dearing Nicholson. He was a prominent farmer of the Liberty Community, where he and Mrs. Nicholson resided and reared their family.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Eunice Simmons Nicholson; two daughters Mrs. Jamie Nichols (Frances) and Miss Etoile Nicholson, both of Newton; three sons, L. F. of Port Arthur, Tex., James A. of Newton and Harry M. Nicholson of Jackson; six grandchildren; four brothers, A. B. Nicholson of Poplarville, Fred Nicholson of New Orleans, La., S. A. and LeRoy Nicholson, both of Newton; two sisters, of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Earl Dale (Grace) of Columbia; a number of nieces and nephews.

The remains were at Hutson Funeral Home until the service hour.

Active pall bearers were, J. C. Lucy, Bob Lay, Herman Shelby, Orris Shelby, Edison Dearing and Harry Williams.
