Mrs. Alexander was the daughter of Julius and Ethel (McIntyre) Meyer. She was raised in Southeast Portland, Oregon.
After graduating from Washington High School, she attended business college in Portland.
On Feb. 14, 1948, she married Art Alexander in Portland. He preceded her in death in January 2000. In October 1954, the couple moved to Long Beach, where they purchased Peninsula Sanitation Service. She remained actively involved in the business until her death.
On Aug. 23, 2003, she married Don Urban, a long-time resident of Long Beach. He died March 12, 2007.
Mrs. Alexander was a 25-year member of the Ilwaco (Wash.) Community Church, presently known as Pacific Bible Church. She was a 50-year member of Pacific Chapter Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Rebekahs. She was also a life-time member of the Peninsula Saddle Club, the Washington State Horsemen and the Washington Refuse and Recycling Association.
Family members said she enjoyed large family gatherings, birthdays and the holidays, collecting antiques, traveling and cruising to overseas destinations and shopping.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Larry Carter, Linda and Ed Bittner and Amy and Bryan McHale, all of Long Beach, and Nancy and David Randall of Yakima, Wash.; a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Teresa Alexander of Long Beach; seven grandchildren, Ned and Ian Bittner, Deena Dryden, Mandy Alexander, Jessica and Trevor Randall and Wylie McHale; and two great-grandchildren, Dominique and Sophia Bittner.
