Old Settler of Buckman is Dead
The death of William Meyer of Buckman village occurred at his home at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, Mar. 14, 1926. The deceased was the third victim of apoplexy in this section within five days. He suffered from the disease for a few years.
William Meyer was 75 years old, and was born in Schesen, Germany, on December 7, 1850. In the year 1873 he immigrated to America and settled on a farm now part of Pierz township. The Meyer family resided on this place which is located about 2 miles south of Pierz, for many years. About 11 years ago Mr. Meyer decided to quit farming and moved with his family to Buckman village to make his home there. The Meyer family lived there since.
The death of his wife occurred only two months ago.
The surviving children are August and Anton Meyer of Buckman, Mrs. Mary Connolly of St. Paul, Mrs. Katie Prigelmeier of Hillman, Joseph Meyer of Mahnomen, Mrs. Arnold Guenther and Mrs. Ed. Dehler of Buckman and Mrs. Martha Grittner of Granite. One adopted son and one brother and a sister survive. His brother and sister are living in Germany.
Funeral services were held in St. Michael's church at Buckman at 10 o'clock this morning (Thursday) and interment followed in the Buckman cemetery. The members of the St. Michael's Society of Buckman of which Mr. Meyer was a member, attended the funeral.
