Charles "Ham"pton Woodruff (Woodchuck) (Strawberry/Tomato Man), passed away quietly at his home on Monday, March 30, 2009 at age 82 with loving family members at his side.

Charlie was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from ALCOA, was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, pastored a small church in Wears Valley at one time, and sold produce from his home in Walland with his family after retirement. He was dearly loved by his family and many who knew him.

Staff of Blount Memorial Hospital, Hospice, Cancer Center, and Five East became dear friends through his long illness.

He will be greatly missed by his dear wife of 61 years, Louise Myers Woodruff and his children: sons, Phil (Beverley) Woodruff of Maryville, and Paul Woodruff of Walland; daughters, Linda (Ron) Manning of Rock Hill, SC; Reba (Randy) Rash of Middleburg, FL; Patsy (Calvin) Parton of Seymour; Betty (Lane) Garner of Maryville; Wanda (Johnny) Pitts of Walland; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 1, from 5-7:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with funeral services following at 7:00 p.m. with Bro. Wayne Black and Bro. Danny Buchanan officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Grandview Cemetery for the interment service.
