Berkshire County
Massachusetts, USA
Death: Mar. 31, 1895
Marshall County
Iowa, USA

Ezra was born Tyringham, MA to John & Mary {Chapin} Bentley. In the Fall of 1840 Ezra and his brothers, Joseph, Charles and Silas left MA for Indiana. Ezra was only 15 years old when he left for Indiana.

They reached Wabash, Indiana sometime in November. They had crossed Lake Erie by ferry boat. The lake had been very rough and everyone was quite sea sick by the time they reached land. After Lake Erie they followed the Wabash River until the finally settled in the woods in Wabash county.

Ezra married Rosetta Boyer April 14, 1850 in Wabash, IN. Their first two children were born in Wabash county.

By 1854 all of the Bentley brothers had decided to move west to Iowa for better farm land.

Ezra and Rosetta bought land in Marshall county Iowa on the Hardin, Marshall county line. Four daughters were born to them in Iowa. They lived on their farm until their health had them move into Marshalltown the last few years of their lives.
