Albert Magee Billingsley was born at Tippecanone, Ohio to William Prim Billingsley and Leah Randall. He taught school near Tippecanoe and attended Mt. Union College. He was ordained as a Methodist minister and lived at Wetmore, Kansas; Evanston, Illinois; Youngstown, Ohio; Cornell, Iowa (where he was a trustee of the college), St. Louis, and finally (1902) in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He married March 22, 1883 at the Sherman House Hotel in New Philadelphia, Ohio, to Miss Eliza Vale ("Lyde") Boyd who had been a pupil of his in the common school at Tippecanoe. They had four children: Wayland D., Paul Raymond, Harry Esmond, and Ruth Virginia (Arnold). Albert died of kidney disease at a hospital in Cedar Falls. He was beloved by his extended family for his compassion and generosity.
