LENA - Clair H Karnatz, 76, of Lena, businessman, scoutmaster, mason and veteran, died Saturday, Sept 9, 1995, at his home.
He owned Karnatz Plumbing and Heating 32 years.
He was a former scoutmaster and executive board member of Lena Boy Scout Troop 91.
He was a member of the Masonic Order of Lena and Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Freeport.
A member of Lena United Methodist Church, he held various positions in the church.
From 1944 to 1946, during World War II, he served in the Navy in the European Theater. He was a Past Commander and lifetime member of American Legion Sprague Inman Post 577.
Son of Herman H and Sina (Hayes) Karnatz, he was born June 15, 1919, in Woodbine. He and Mildred Sallee were married Sept 28, 1941 in Lena.
Surviving family members include his wife; two sons, Kenneth of Rockford and Dale of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Marvin (Lucille) Karnatz of Lena and Vernon (Inge) of Germany; and three grandchildren, Joshua of Lena, Jason of Aurora and Krista of Lena.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lena United Methodist Church with the Rev Gavin Brandt officiating.
Burial will be in Lena Burial Park.
Friends may call for 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
