Louis Charles Karnatz
Louis Charles Karnatz, whose home was five miles northeast of Edgar, passed away in a Hastings hospital, May 26, 1933 at the age of 40 years, 9 months and 4 days. He had been ill about two weeks. When it was discovered that his illness was of a mastoid nature, he was taken to the hospital for an operation. Infection had, however, advanced too far to be checked. Though all was done, that seemingly could be done to save his life, the summons came when he had barely passed what is commonly called middle age.

Louis Charles Karnatz was born in Omaha, June 22, 1892. He thereafter, with his parents, lived in various places, St Francis and Burr Oak, Kansas; Hastings and Ong, Nebr.

He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Lindgren, Sept. 5, 1918. Since their marriage their home has always been in the same community. Two children were born to this union, Robert Eugene, age 13 and Lila Mae, age 11.

The departed was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church (sic) of Ong of which he became a member April 20, 1924. He was also a member of the I. O. O. F. and the Rebekah lodges.

Mr Karnatz was a kind and loving husband, father, son and brother. He was held in high esteem because of his integrity and kindness, He leaves a loving wife, one son and one daughter; his parents, Mr and Mrs Fred J Karnatz of Deweese; two sisters, Dena, Mrs Carl Weis of Burchard, and Ethel E., Mrs George Lindgren of Ong; three brothers, Albert G of Ong, William J of Davenport and Herman H of Edgar, besides other relatives and a large number of friends.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church in Ong. The pastor, Rev Herrmann, speaking on a text taken from Revelations, brought many thoughts to the grief stricken family. Rev Rasmusson of Edgar assisted in the service. A quartette composed of Miss Eleanor Hokom, Mrs Louis Nelson, Dean Wight and Paul Anderson sang two hymns and Miss Elsie Mansfield sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." The many beautiful flowers and the capacity filled church were a fitting tribute to the memory of the departed. Interment was made in the Edgar cemetery.
