John, was the son of Peter and Mary Mc Carthy Hennessy, was born on July 5, 1850 in Bordentown, NJ. He worked on the Camden Amboy railroad as a telegrapher. He had two sons --- John Peter and James Joseph called Joe. John married Sarah Brogan, on November 12, 1879 at St. Bridget's on Montgomery St in Jersey City. She was born in 1853 in Jersey City and died on April 28, 1883 of pneumonia, leaving two sons orphaned. Children of JOHN HENNESSY and SARA BROGAN: JOHN PETER HENNESSY, b. 27 Oct 1880, d. 07 Jun 1958; and JAMES JOSEPH HENNESSY, b. 04 Aug 1882, Jersey City, New Jersey, d. 02 May 1953, Riverside, New Jersey.

After Sara died John moved to Bordentown so his two sons could be near their grandfather Peter. John remarried Rebecca Mose on May 27, 1885 in Trenton. John died at forty-nine years of age of heart disease at St Francis Hospital in Trenton on Feb 23, 1900.

John Hennessy died last Friday at St. Francis Hospital, Trenton. He was the son of the late Peter Hennessy, one of Bordentown's oldest citizens, the funeral took place on Monday morning from St. Mary's Church, with interment in the Bordentown cemetery.
