A funeral for Johnnie Louise Barton Slaton, 88, will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday in McCune Garden Chapel Funeral Home, 212 Main St., Vacaville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m.
Burial will be in Rock Hill, S.C., where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband.
Mrs. Slaton passed away June 26, 2006, following a long illness.
She was born Feb. 5, 1918 in Antioch, S.C., Lancaster County. She worked at Arcade Textile for 37 years, Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co. for 10 years and Fast Pace Laundry Mat for five years. She was a member of West End Baptist Church and loved gardening.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She will surely be missed for her wonderful smile, her kindness and wit.
Mrs. Slaton is survived by her daughters, Carol Julian and Harriet Mitchum; sisters, Mary Robinson, Junita Knight and Bille Snipes; five grandchildren, David Shawn Julian, Teresa Dawn Watson, Dana Moree', Lynn Mitchum and Billy Slaton; 10 great-grandchildren, Devyn Fitchorn and Emma Watson, Eric Moree', Autum, Justin, James and Jamie Slaton, Zach and Brittany Julian; close friend, Frances Papin.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, William Pressley Slaton; sons, James "Bill" William Slaton; parents, William Troy Braton and Mary Louise Williams Barton; brothers, William Troy Barton Jr., Paul Drennon Barton, Samuel Maxwell Barton and Gerald Barton.
