Lester Ray Averett, 73, of Springville, died on Saturday, February 24, 1990 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
Born November 27, 1916 in Springville to John Lester and Constance Tadd Averett.
Married Nellie Marie Davis on June 17, 1939 in Ogden. Attended schools in Springville and the Utah School for the Deaf.
Owned and operated a shoe repair shop in Springville during WW II; worked at shoe repair shops in Provo and Salt Lake City. Worked for the State Road Dept. for five years and Utah County Road Dept. for 25 years. In April 1979, he was named outstanding employee for Utah County. Member UCA Pigeon Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and racing pigeons.
Survived by wife, Springville; two daughters, Mrs. Marion (Sharon) Gren, Springville; Mrs. Ellis (Janet) Russell, Riverton; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, LaRue Ross, Midvale; Mrs. Dean (Jean) Allan, Springville; Mrs. Jack (Joan) Carbone, Takoma, Wash. Preceded in death by son, Dale Ray Averett.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Springville Stake Center, 600 East 245 South. Friends may call at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Interment: Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
