Jim Anderson is my Uncle, he was married to my father's sister. He remained VERY active throughout his life. He often travelled to visit family, near or far. He is loved and missed by all who knew him. However, we know he is happy to be reunited with his beloved Mary Anne, who preceded him in death in 1994.
Jim served in the U.S. Army in WWII and later in the Air Force during the Korean War. He served as staff officer for SAC and Combined Chiefs.
He received his B.S. from Rice University in Houston, Tex and his M.S. from UCLA.
He is the son of Agnes F. Fitzwilliam Anderson and James Robertson Anderson.
He married his beloved, Mary Anne McPhaul on May 1, 1948 in Washington, D.C.
James Anderson, Sr.
James "Jim" Robertson Anderson, Sr., 88, of Lake Charles died at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at a local hospital.
Born July 8, 1919 in Cincinnati, OH, Mr. Anderson was raised in Galveston, TX. He married the love of his life, Mary Anne McPhaul in 1948. In 1974 he moved to Lake Charles after retiring as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force with thirty-two years of service. After his military retirement, he worked with Olin Chemical Corp. for fourteen years as an Environmental Affairs Manager. Later, Mr. Anderson worked as an Environmental Consultant at Oxy Chemical for approximately ten years. Over the years, he was active in the AARP Volunteer Tax Assistance Program, Chamber of Commerce, Literacy Council, Serra Club and the Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his son, James "J.R." Anderson, Jr. and wife Karen of Lake Charles; four daughters, Linda Anderson and husband Frank Wilson of Kensington, MD, Sharon Anderson of Bryan, TX, Robin Conrad and husband Frank of Moss Bluff and Janet Anderson of League City, TX; two grandchildren, Mark Gray and wife Natalie of Lake Jackson, TX, and Cameron Anderson of Lake Charles; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Paiten Gray, both of Lake Jackson, TX; brother-in-law, Dr. John McPhaul and wife Marilyn of Dallas, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne McPhaul Anderson and sister, Frances Anderson.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 7, 2007 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:30 PM. There will be no visitation at the funeral home on Friday.
