Mr. Parsons was employed as a car inspector with the Lake Terminal Railroad; retiring in 1981 after 30 years with the railroad. He also worked part time for the Lorain Journal for 25 years. Mr. Parsons was an Army veteran and served during World War II in the European Theater. Mr. Parsons was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 8686, Avon Lake, the American Legion Post 211, and the AmVets Post 055, Sheffield Lake. Charlie enjoyed life. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, golf, coaching little league, playing games and socializing. He especially looked forward to his daily outings to Chris's Restaurant in Lorain. Mr. Parsons loved growing roses in his rose garden and in 1973 he was awarded the Morning Journals "Good Citizen Award".
Mr. Parsons is survived by his children; Chuck Parsons (Pat) of Avon Lake, Jackie Kish (Rick) of Avon Lake, Ken Parsons (Linda) of Elyria, Debi Bourque (Paul) of Avon Lake, Patrick Parsons of Avon Lake, Leslie Anderson (Andy) of Cleveland, Brian Parsons of Avon Lake and Scott Parsons of Lakeland, Georgia; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty R. Parsons (nee Bozwa) in 1989; parents, William and Mae Parsons (nee Davies), five brothers, four sisters and his late friend and long-time companion Sue Kinser.
Friends may call at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake from 4-8pm Thursday where American Legion Post 211 will conduct services at 7:15pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday, February 6 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain where military honors will be observed.
