Charles Earl Tate, 78, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009, at Patients Choice Hospital in Belzoni.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Belzoni with burial in Belzoni City Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
Earl was born August 31, 1930 in Lexington. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He served as Master Sergeant in the National Guard for 42 years and received the Meritorious Service Medal and the MS Magnolia Cross upon retirement. Earl later served as Circuit Clerk of Humphreys County for 10 years.
Survivors are his wife, June Farmer Tate of Belzoni; two sons, Stan (Wanda) Tate of Carthage and Craig Tate of Madison; four grandchildren, Angie (Lee) Permenter and Alison (Bradley) Freeny of Carthage, Bailey and Avery Tate of Madison; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Belzoni or to the Alzheimer's Association.
