Wilma (Goforth) McGrouty Lee, 83, beloved mother, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009.
Throughout her career she held many jobs including store photographer, florist, Wonder Bread sales person, and elevator operator. She worked during WWII as a mail deliverer at Tinker Field. She was also very proud of her membership in the Daughter's of the American Revolution. Her great-great-grandfather, Solomon Tuttle Sr., served with Ethan Allen at the taking of Fort Ticonderoga and after the war founded Athens, Ohio. Her great-grandmother, Cyrena Abigail (Tuttle) Woods, was the second to the last Real Daughter of the American Revolution to die.
Wilma was born February 7, 1926 in Altus, Jackson Co., Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Effie Goforth; her first husband, Laurie G. McGrouty; husband Jerrell W. Lee; and sister Juanita (Winfrey) Luginbyhl.
She is survived by her son, Laurie A. McGrouty and wife Renee of Sapulpa; sister Judy Vandever of California; brothers James Goforth, Don Goforth and wife Olga, David Goforth and wife Karen, Dale Goforth and wife Barbara, all of Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2009 at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Resthaven Cemetery.
