Death of Mrs. John Reis.
Thursday of last week, Dec. 14, 1882, Mrs. Constantina Reis, wife of John Reis, of this city, died after a protracted illness. For the past two years deceased had been an invalid and during a part of that period a terrible sufferer. The exact nature of her disease baffled even the knowledge of the best physicians, but for several months past inflammatory rheumatism has been the leading ailment. The pain caused by the frequent attacks of this dreadful malady where so frequent and severe that even death was preferable. For several weeks before death's summons ended all, it had been apparent that the end was near; so that the family were in a measure prepared for the final closing of a lite fraught with usefulness and unselfish kindness. The funeral services were performed Saturday forenoon Dec. 16, at St. Marks church and were conducted by the pastor, Father Plut.
Deceased was born in Prussia, April 12, 1831, and her maiden name was Constantina Apfeld. In 1852 she came to St. Louis and was married to Mr. Reis, January 18, 1853. The same year she came to Minnesota, locating in this city, where she has ever since resided.
