Virginia Cox, 93, of Blue Springs, Mo., died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at St. Mary's Manor in Blue Springs. The daughter of Johnson and Rosa May (Dillinger) Campbell, she was born June 22, 1915, in Pollock, Mo. On Dec. 10, 1938, in Pollock, Mo., she married Clell Laverne Cox. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2002. Also preceding her were her parents; four brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Norma Cox, of Joplin, Mo., and Creighton and Diane Cox, of Jefferson City, Mo.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; one sister, Frances Helms, of Milan, Mo.; a very close friend, Peggy Roderick; and several nieces and nephews. Virginia and Clell lived in Milan until 1962, when they moved to Blue Springs. While in Milan, Virginia worked as a receptionist for Dr. Magill and at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital. She also owned and operated a dress shop in Milan. Virginia was a huge fan of the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs and the Missouri Tigers. She was a past member of the Milan United Methodist Church and was a founding and present member of the St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Blue Springs. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, at St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Blue Springs, with visitation held one hour before. On Saturday, March 28, at service will be held at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Milan, with visitation the hour before. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Milan, under the direction of Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Contributions are suggested to Odyssey Health Care Hospice, 800 E. 101st Terrace, Suite 150, Kansas City, Mo. 64131.
