Roland Kokituk Angnaboogok, Sr. was born to Burt and Kate Angnaboogok at Wales, Alaska June 15, 1913. Roland lived in Wales, AK most of his life. He enjoyed the subsistence lifestyle he maintained for as long as he was able. He was well known for telling weather condition, especially if the ocean was safe to travel between Teller and Wales. He shared his knowledge on hunting,camping, preparing, and preserving his catch. He always stressed how important it was to share with others and immediately protect meat from the sun. Roland provided his family working as a store manager most of his life. He also held jobs as laborer for K P Construction, longshoreman, and worked as substitute at Wales Native Store (after he retired), and Teller Commercial Company. He was an experienced hunter, skillful craftsman, and was active leader in City of Wales, IRA, Wales Native Corporation, AVEC delegate, and School Board member. He carved to supplement his income to meet our needs. Roland was in Alaska Territorial Guards 1958 to 1964 (Or 1965). He was brave and proud to defend our country.
He was preceded in death by wife: Edna, Children: Jenny, Percy, first Elinor, Roy, David, Reuben; Sisters: Jane, Ann Statuk, and Elsie; Brothers: Willie Angnaboogok,Ralph Gayasuk, Tommy Angnaboogok, and Roy Angnaboogok. Granddaughters: Denise Michelle Phillips and Andrea Angnaboogok.
Survived by Daughters: Gladys and Bill Geary, Lorraine and Joe Weber, Eleanor Angnaboogok, and Edith Pinson Sons: Roland Angnaboogok, Jr. and Gene Angnaboogok, Grandchildren: Cheryl, Melanie & Tim Ryan, Michael & Dinorah Geary, Tam & Tom Hancock, Aslinn, Linnea, Laurraine, and Joseph Weber, Tony and Amy Phillips, Shawn & Shari Pinson, Vernae Angnaboogok. Great-grandchildren: Madelain, Jacque, Katheryn Ryan, Izmyel, Javier Geary, Jordan Hancock, Haille, Brandon, Kayla, and Kaylani Weber, Andrew, Lyllian, and Benjamin Pinson, and Shane Angnaboogok. Sister-in-laws : Faye Ongtowasruk, Frieda Crump, and Bertha Corey; Nieces: Ruth, Rita, Carolyn, Cordella, Sharon, Bertha, Hannah, Gail, and Kate Josephine. Nephews: Wilson, Robert, Percy, Eddie, and Johnny. Numerous Nieces, nephews, and relatives all over the Norton Sound Region.
