WHITNEY - Chester A. Witney, 67, of 46 Grove Ave., Norwich, N.Y., died unexpectedly at his home, Sunday morning. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Sherman Whitney, Norwich; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Doris) Freeman, RD 2, South New Berlin; a son, A. Sherman Whitney, Greene; a brother, Orrin C. Whitney, Cumberland Center, Maine; six grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He had been a resident of Norwich for the past 7 years. He had worked for the Norwich Colonia Theatre while living in Norwich. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Robert J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St., Norwich. The Rev. Wilbur W. Strader, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, Norwich, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests that contributions be made to the local chapter of Heart Fund in memory of Mr. Whitney.
