* Junius Goodwin Dead. Died last night at his home in Joplin, Mo. Arch Goodwin received a telegram this morning stating that his father, Dr. Junius Goodwin, had passed away at the family home in Joplin last night. Mr. Goodwin has been ill for a number of months and death was not unexpected. Arch will leave for Joplin this afternoon. - Taken from The Edna Enterprise, August 15, 1902:

Body brought here for in it's early welfare.

Junius Goodwin, meagre mention of whose demise was made in our last issue, died at his home in Joplin, Mo., on the evening of August 15 at 9 o'clock, after a lingering illness of about one year. The body was brought to this city Saturday morning, and the funeral held at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, conducted by Elder W. A. Boyd, of Caney.

Junius Goodwin was born in Spencer County, Kentucky, September 11, 1838. He was united in marriage to Miss Carolne Graham November 21, 1860. He professed a hope in Christ in 1866 and one year later joined the Baptist Church. Soon after joining the church, he was elected a deacon, which office he held until his death.

He moved to Kansas in the spring of 1871. He was one of the charter members of the Kingston Baptist Church, now in this city, but at that time called Mt. Zion.

He leaves a wife, three sons, one daughter, four brothers and two sisters. All these were present at the funeral except one.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and his life was a pleasing example of true Christian influence.

The bereft family have our deepest sympathy in this sad hour of grief. May we all bow with humble recognition to the Lord's dealings with his own, and may it be our happy lot to feel and say as our departed friend and brother in his last hours, "I am ready when the Lord shall call for me."
