George A. Dill was born on 29 MAY 1859, in Millboro, Bath County, Virginia, the son of Andrew J.P. and Rachel Dill. George had three siblings: John W. Dill, Jacob S. Dill, and Mary E. Dill. Soon after George was born his mother, Rachel, passed over in 1860, at the age of 27 of typhiod fever in Bath County, Virginia. Mary Dill (George's sister) married Preston C. Ramsy.

Sometime before 1870, George's father, Andrew, remarried Frances E. Carter Gay in Goochland, Virginia. This was also Frances's second marriage, as she was first married to Charles S. Gay. Frances was the daughter of Daniel Samuel Carter and Sallie F. Anderson of Goochland, Virginia. In 1870, Andrew, Frances, John, Jacob, George, Mary, Nancy A. Aylor, Caroline Foster and William Hy Foster are all living on the family farm in Millboro. By 1880, Andrew had died and Frances was a widow. She passed away sometime after 1880 in Fluvanna, Virginia.

George A. Dill married Lucy F. Unknown in 1880, Bath County, Virginia, they had 8 children: Ernest O. Dill, Rosa M. Dill, Harry L. Dill, Bessie Dill, Hubert F. Dill, Lucy Dill (twin), Maude Dill (twin) and Madaline Dill. Rosa Dill married James R. Kirkpatrick born in Virginia, a gardner at the Greenbrier golf course in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Maude Dill married J.A. Pyle born in Pennsylvania, a repairman at the Chesapeake and Ohio shops in Clifton Forge, Virginia. Madaline Dill married Marvin W. Hambrick born in Eagle Rock, Virginia, a clerk/salesman in Clifton Forge, Virginia. Hubert Dill married Grace Rosa Hyler in Clifton Forge, Virginia.

George continued working as a farmer on the family farm until some time between 1910-1920. In 1910, he is working as a farmer, but also working in Clifton Forge, Alleghany County, Virginia, as a hired man and staying with the Lawrence family. George probably sold the family farm around this time. By 1920, George and his family are living in Clifton Forge, Virginia.
