Nordenholt, Noted Engineer Dies Suddenly

George D. Nordenholt, former director of the State Department of Natural Resources under three Governors and noted mining engineer and geologist, died yesterday in California Lutheran Hospital after an illness of two weeks.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Wee Kirk O' the Heather, Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
A resident of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills for the past 40 years, Mr. Nordenholt was president of the Pacific Petroleum Co. here and was associated with prominent mining and petroleum developments throughout the West from Alaska to Central America.
As director of the Department of Natural Resources he served under former California Govs. James Rolph Jr., Frank F. Merriam and Culbert J. Olson. After he left the State Cabinet he was engaged in private oil development in Redondo Beach.

Football Fame

Prior to entering business Mr. Nordenholt was named All-American fullback for several successive years by Walter Camp.
He played football under Coach Amos Alonzo Stagg at the University of Chicago. He attended the University of Wisconsin for one year and graduated from Colorado School of Mines a mining engineer.
Besides his business interests Mr. Nordenholt was a nationally known authority on hunting and fishing.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Nordenholt, of 9305 Hazen Drive, Beverly Hills; a sister, Mrs. York B. Sutch of Chicago, and a brother, Walter Nordenholt of Lake Geneva, Wis.
