James Noble Crawford, 89, died March 15, 2009, at Hunt Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

James Noble Crawford, 89, of Greenville died March 15, 2009, at Hunt Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Park Cemetery with Rev. Paul Gould officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Mr. Crawford was born Oct. 22, 1919, in Greenville. He was the son of Ralph A. and Bessie Seaman Crawford. He attended Texas A and M University in College Station where he participated on the swim team. After graduating in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in business, he worked in the accounting field. On June 21, 1941, he married Eva Jeanette (Jan) Patterson in New Orleans, La. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. In 1949 he moved from the Greenville area to Garland where he was active in various civic organizations and youth activities, primarily scouting and Little League.

His survivors include his wife of 67 years; son James N. Crawford Jr. and wife Linda of Greenville; a daughter, Candus Crawford Lozito and husband Jim of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Laura Katherine Crawford.

Pallbearers will be Jim Lozito, grandsons Chris and Michael Lozito and other family members Paul, Charlie and Kyle Patterson. Granddaughter Jenny Lozito will also participate in the service.
