Mrs. Henry Windler, for nearly 64 years a resident of Miami county, and one of the most notable wives and mothers in this county, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. August Prothe, in the Block community. Elizabeth Neu, daughter of Adam and Katharina Neu, was born July 16, 1849, in Rein Prausin Swarz Arden, Germany. At the time of her death she was in her 83rd year.

She went to the Lutheran school in Rein until she was 14 years old and in 1853 she was confirmed by Rev. Fredrich Saur. in June 1868, she came to the United States with her parents, when she was 18 years old, and settled on a farm 1 1/2 miles southeast of Block, now the Carl Peckman farm. She was married to Henry Windler Jan. 1, 1872, and this year they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. to them four children were born; Katie, wife of August Prothe; Albert Windler, Caroline, wife of Fred Gerken, and Herman Windler, all of the Block community.

These children, the husband, 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. Gus Evert, of near Fontana, survive. In 1926 Mr. and Mrs. Windler moved to Paola, 404 E. Piankishaw street, and lived here until November 1930, when they went to make their home with their oldest daughter, Mrs. August Prothe. Mother Windler lived a Christian life, loving her neighbors as she loved herself. Her's was a wonderful life, full of self sacrificing service. she was always true to her church, her family and her country. A wonderful life of 64 years in this county was the contribution of Mrs. Windler and she did her full part in developing this county, and making it a better community.

Funeral services were held Thursday in the Trinity Lutheran Church, block, conducted by Rev. O. C. J. Keller. Burial was in the cemetery near the church.
