Mrs. Harriet E. Morgan, a former resident of Winterset, was stricken with paralysis Friday, November 22nd, at her home at San Anselmo, California, and died Monday, November 25th. Mrs. Morgan was 76 years of age, and was a daughter of the late Fletcher Smith of Winterset, who was county recorder for many years of Madison county. Her late husband was formerly in the furniture and undertaking business in Winterset. The Morgans left here a number of years ago and resided in Omaha before moving to California. It is stated that Mrs. Morgan was the author of a number of poems and plays, and was active in the Presbyterian church in San Anselmo. She is survived by a daughter, Miss Ethel Morgan, and a son, Ellemere E. Morgan, both residents of San Enselmo. She also leaves her brother, J. Ed Smith, a former grocery dealer of Winterset, who has been making his home with her.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 26th, at the funeral parlors of Keaton & Duvel, with the Rev. Luther E. Stein, former pastor of the Second Presbyterian church, and Rev. Elmer Sims, close friends of Mrs. Morgan, officiating. She was buried by the side of her husband, in a cemetery at Redlands, their former home.
