Jay was the son of John A. Compton and Cora French. He married Eileen T. Pennington. Jay was a farmer in 1950.

Funeral services for Jay Compton, 65, of Rt. 3, Louisa, (Twin Branch Road) were conducted Wednesday (Oct. 23) at 2 p.m. in Young Funeral Home by the Rev. James E. Hayes. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Compton died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, suffering an apparent heart attack, while driving an auto in the vicinity of the residence. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eileen Wilkerson Compton; two sisters, Miss Dixie Compton of Catlettsburg, and Mrs. Lucy Lane of Ashland; one brother, Tom Compton of Rt. 1, Rush, and several nieces and nephews.
