Resident of Valley Past 40 Years Died Suddenly Saturday
No Funeral Arrangements for J. M. Shugar of Fruitvale District
Jacob M. Shugar, pioneer resident of the valley, died suddenly at his home yesterday afternoon after being ill only a few hours. He came to Grand Junction in 1894, and has since made his home in the Fruitvale district near this city.
Jacob M. Shugar was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania April 8, 1852. He moved to Illinois when he was 13 years old and moved from there to Iowa. He was married to Elizabeth Beatty in 1882 and moved to Nebraska, where he was in the implement business for a number of years.
Mr. and Mrs. Shugar came to Grand Junction in 1894 and have lived here since that time. Mrs. Shugar died in 1897. He later married Jennie E. Brown, who survives him.
He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. James Hall of this city and Mrs. P. H. Hall of Bell, California; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
No arrangements have been made. Martin's funeral home will be in charge.

Services for J. M. Shugar At 2:30 Tuesday
Funeral of Jacob M. Shugar will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon from Martin's chapel with Rev. r. E. Kinsell in charge. Burial will be in Orchard Mesa cemetery.
Mr. Shugar, who had resided in this city the past 40 years, passed away suddenly Saturday afternoon after being ill only a few hours.
