Uriah DuBois died in this city Thursday, April 6th, of apoplexy, aged 74 years, 1 month and 6 days. He was born in Duchess [sic] county, New York, May 1st, 1806, and lived as a farmer in his native county for several years. In 1856 he brought his family to this county and engaged in farming until 1877, when he moved to the city. Though his sons made his home pleasant and kept all his wants supplied, yet his natural habits of industry led him to seek some occupation suitable to his declining years, and for the past four years he has been engaged in the furniture rooms of Gwynne Bros. During his residence in this county he made many friends who respected him highly. He was an exhaustive reader and possessed of an active and retentive memory which was undimmed by age, he would converse intelligently upon any subject. The funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon, from his late residence, Rev. E. N. Barrett, of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Deceased leaves a wife and three sons here, a daughter in New York, one in Kansas and another in Waverly, Iowa, also a son at Yankton, Dakota, all of whom have the sympathy of their many friends.
