Manford E. Mounts, 70, Wadesville, died Tuesday, April 2, at Welborn Hospital, Evansville. He was a World War II veteran and was a former auditor of Posey County as well as a rural mail carrier. He was a public accountant and was the owner of Mounts' Tax Service. He was an active member of the Posey County Democratic Organization and the first director of the Posey County Civil Defense.
He was born on December 13, 1920, the son of William Edgar Mounts and Mary E. Stallings Mounts. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Poseyville American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Methodist Church in New Harmony.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta; two sons, Dennis, Evansville, and Rick, Wadesville; a daughter, Carol Julian, Evansville; a brother, Malcolm Mounts, New Harmony; and two sisters, Alma Moody, New Harmony and Deloris Landis, Orlando, FL. One grandchild, Amy Julian, also survives.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Tygart Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Vernon with burial in Bethsaida Cemetery. Rev. Rick Sellers will officiate. Friends may call at Tygart Funeral Home from 2 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Mount Zion General Baptist Church.
