son of Samuel D Combest and Sarah "Sallie" Dick; husband of Gilla Ann "Gilla" Jasper married 10 Aug 1822 Pulaski County, Kentucky

following from the book "Samuel Combest and His Descendants" by H Jane Barnes Smith and Patricia Osborn Olmstead (written 1990, currently out of print)

William Combest died in Andrew County, Missouri, near Platte, in 1855 and until 1975, there was no verified information or record of William's burial place. Through much help from relatives on both sides of the family, who are still in the area, it was possible to locate and verify information and headstones, indicating that he is buried in a small private plot or cemetery on a farm he owned at the time of his death in 1855.

The tombstone of William and those of his sons John and Wyatt Combest had been removed and placed underground on their respective graves. The graves were located when the foundation for a new home was being dug. Artifacts from the graves were also unearthed at this time, which included coffin nails, underwear buttons, metal buttons, and a small piece of leather which overlapped a button (probably from a vest). A descendant, Mr Gerald Reser of Rossville, Kansas, is now in possession of these artifacts. The site of the plot is the present homesite of Mr Robert Staley, Andrew County, Missouri
