Birth: Jul. 18, 1856
Death: Dec. 20, 1944

Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 22 Dec 1944
"Mark B. Templin, one of the oldest residents of Canfield, died Wednesday morning at his (56) Court street home following an illness of two weeks of bronchial pneumonia. Mr. Templin was born in Green township, July 18, 1856, and celebrated his 88th birthday last summer. He was a son of Lewis and Sarah Templin and in his early years was associated with his father as a nurseryman. The father, with his three sons, Richard, Mark and Curtis, later established the Templin Seed Co. at Calla, having extensive green houses and publishing an elaborate catalog at their plant. Mark Templin was in charge of the printing of the several thousand catalogs mailed out each year. Besides this he was an expert in both nursery and horticultural work. After the business in Calla was discontinued, Mr. Templin moved to Canfield and continued his work until advancing years compelled him to give up such work. His last extensive landscaping was Firestone Park in Columbiana, done ten years ago. In recent months, Mr. Templin had been doing carpenter work for the Heller-Murray Co., helping the construction of urgently needed war materials. He was an artisan who could turn his hand to almost any kind of work. Mr. Templin had served as mayor of Canfield two different times (1924-25 & 1930-31)and had been superintendent of the Sunday School of Calla Evangelical church for 25 years, and active in the church all his life. He was on the national board of publications for his denomination. Always active in the Mahoning Horticultural Society, he served as its secretary for 20 years and though having no orchard of his own he was always on hand to assist his associates in arranging their displays of apples at the Mahoning county fair. He had missed only one meeting of the society, which was eight years ago when he suffered a broken neck. Despite this injury Mr. Templin carried on pruning and other nursery work for some years. He enjoyed writing and had furnished many interesting articles for The Dispatch. He was married in October, 1878, to Alice Cook, who died nine years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Delfs of Canfield, a son J. Lester Templin of Binghamton, N. Y.; a brother, S. C. Templin of Garrettsville, and three granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Williams funeral home, where friends may call Friday evening."
