Per Sue Yeisley,
"John Calhoun Billingsley, son of Jesse Billingsley and Blanche Newman, was born in McMinn County, Tennessee, on March 28, 1932 and died on 11 April 1873 in Douglas County, Missouri. He married Mary Elizabeth Golliver in Searcy, Arkansas on Feb. 19, 1855. Mary 's parents had immigrated from Ireland and she was born in Newport, Arkansas on Sept. 19, 1836. John Calhoun and Mary Elizabeth had eight children. Nancy, Ona and Hannah were born in Arkansas and the other were born in Douglas County, Missouri.
John Calhoun Senior enlisted as a private in the 8th Missouri Cavalry on July 30, 1862. After John Calhoun died Mary Elizabeth married Elijah Hurst on Dec. 3, 1884. Mr Hurst was a U.S. soldier from Indiana. He died between 1890 and 1900, and she died Dec. 27, 1906 in the home of her son John Albert Billingsley. John Calhoun and Mary Elizabeth are buried in East Liberty Cemetery in Douglas County, Missouri. During the Civil War Mary Elizabeth and her children lived near the spring west of Ava which is now in the golf course. During the last years of her life she lost her eyesight. Her granddaughter Nora Billingsley Spurlock remember that Mary away wanted Nora to sit on her lap and that Mary could recognize Nora by feeling her curly hair."
