Playwright, Screenwriter. He found fame after penning "The Runner Stumbles", which became a critically acclaimed Broadway production (1976 to 1978). In addition, he contributed the script for its 1979 motion picture adaptation. The Detroit native was educated at the University of Michigan and studied at the Yale School of Drama. He served as Executive Director of the Circle Repertory Company and wrote the off-Broadway plays "Back in the Race" and "Labor Day". His small screen writing credits include the television-movies "The Gentleman Bandit" (1981) and "Long Shadows" (1994). He taught dramatic writing at such institutions as Princeton University, University of Michigan and New York University.
