Daughter of John Nevin of Pennsylvania and Martha J. O'Haver of Ohio. Wife of Joshua Seamonds, 1838 - 1898.
According to her obituary in the Tulare Advance Register, Feb. 11, 1927:
"Deceased was a native of Marion Linn county, Iowa, where she was born July 19, 1853. When only ten years old, in April 1863, she left Iowa with her parents and crossed the plains to California in a covered wagon train, arriving in Stockton in August 1863. She made her home in that city until 1872, being married in that year to Joshua Seamonds, the couple moving to Hanford, which was then in Tulare county, to make thir home. She was living there at the time of the famous Mussel Slough tragedy and with the exception of four years spent at her old home in Stockton had lived in Tulare County ever since, spending the last nine years in Tulare. She had been a member of the firm of Seamonds & La Fond at Tipton for a number of years, her husband passing away in 1889. She is survived by two sons, Edwin G. Seamonds of Santa Monica and George T. Seamonds of Placerville; a daughter Mrs. L.J. La Fond of Tipton; a stepson, Oscar Seamonds of Stockton and a grandson, [Oscar] Nevin Seamonds of Tulare."
The Feb. 17, 1927, Exeter Sun, described Mary Seamonds as an "Exeter Pioneer."
